Our team has been present since the online gaming industry took off in the early years of 2000. We have been at the forefront of developments in the internet gaming industry for more than ten years. We work closely with sport organizations and clubs in connection to entertainment and IP law. Our team has a vast industry experience across all aspects of the sector. Clients include multinational businesses, owner-managed enterprises and technology start-ups. Dr. Wiklund has been advising major online gaming operators for more than 15 years. His sector expertise ranges from commercial and regulatory to M & A and litigation. He is also advising private operators in the Health Care-sector. He has acted as counsel in proceedings before the European Courts in Luxemburg and Strasbourg. He has represented clients in the European Commission and the Swedish Competition Authority. He is acting for clients in a number of pending high profile monopoly EU law suits (gaming, tax and alcohol) against the Swedish government. He runs an extensive Public Affairs practice on Pan-European level. Dr. Wiklund has published several articles and books in his field of practice.

Minister Ardalan Shekarabi’s new temporary Regulation violates EU Law – “The legal question will be if the deposit restrictions, bonus restrictions and login requirements could have any effects on public health. The burden of proof here lies firmly with the government.”
Loot Boxes and Domestic Gaming Laws – Regulatory Overreach -The Swedish Consumer Agency’s (Konsumentverket) report suggests there may be problems with the business model for loot boxes in relation to children and vulnerable consumers. Subsequently, the Swedish Ministry of Finance has referred the Swedish Consumer Agency’s report on loot boxes to a legislative committee (Spelmarknadsutredningen). This agency claims that if the winnings in a loot box can be turned into cash, it is a lottery, covered by the Gaming Act.
